We propose you a course of high animated level conducted by Jean-Louis MARIGNIER and Michèle LOURSEAU, world-wide specialists of Niépce’s processes : a practical introduction to Heliography (first photography process in the world) i.e. the bitumen of Judea process on copper and silver plates. This course will include lectures and will allow you also to discover the tourist treasures of Burgundy. |

• 9 - 12 A.M : Practise of Heliography with J.L. MARIGNIER and M. Lourseau : Preparation of the silver and copper plates. Varnishing the plates with the bitumen of Judea. Creation of black and white slides in large format to make contact prints with Niépce’s process (don’t forget to bring 35mm negatives as well as line drawings). Exposure to the light of the copper plates (reproduction of drawings). Exposure in camera obscura of the silver plates (time exposure : 2 days if the weather is fine). • From 2.30 P.M : Wine tour and tasting in Henriette Niepce’s property. Back in Saint Loup de Varennes : Revealing the images on the plates exposed during the afternoon. Dinner at the restaurant « Le Vendangerot » in Rully. |

Dinner at the restaurant « Le Bourgogne ». |
